The overturning of Roe v. Wade by the Supreme Court of the United States in 2022 stripped women of their bodily autonomy. After nearly 50 years of the constitutional right to abortion, millions of women in eleven states are now deprived of this life-saving healthcare and essential human right. You’d Make Such a Great Mother! raises questions of power, or lack of power, held by women. It grapples with the realization that the scope of responsibility for the well-being of one’s child is partial; it is not comprehensive or infinite. It is conditional and often predicated on forces outside of one’s control, dictated by individuals prioritizing political power over basic human rights.
